In a bid to attract AFL and specifically the Western Bulldogs to the region in 2017, Local and State Government have put forth $2.7M for stage one of the project which includes playing surface upgrades to Eureka Stadium and North Ballarat Oval No. 2 (adjacent to Eureka). Pitchcraft were selected to undertake the construction of both Eureka Stadium and North Oval No.2 playing fields. Post local football finals 2015, It was full steam ahead for Pitchcraft, managing major excavations and an array of local contractors in order to deliver stage one of the precinct.
Two elite playing surfaces in Eureka Stadium and North Oval was opened at the beginning of the 2016 Football Season. In addition to the natural turf playing surface, Pitchcraft facilitated the installation of significant infrastructure, synthetic turf in high traffic areas and constructed numerous viewing mounds, helping to secure this precinct as one of the best sporting facilities in the region.
