Before the sporting field over haul, this elite training facility had become compromised due to faults in the irrigation and drainage system which had resulted in soft spots and irregularities across the playing surface. Pitchcraft installed a new drainage ringmain reconnecting lateral drains, 50mm of turf was stripped from the surface, profile cultivated to 150mm, amended with nutrient and re-levelled before turfing with approximately 20,000m² of sand based Santa Ana Mega Sod. Pitchcraft completed the major works within two weeks and have successfully provided a first class training ground for the Hawthorn Football Club.
